Glassblowing Lessons Near Portland

We are currently scheduling into December for Saturday glassblowing lessons.

We offer glass art classes in the format of private instruction (in Glassblowing, Lamp working, & Fusing). Why? Because we have the flexibility to tailor our curriculum for those who really want to learn how to work with glass and to the bucket listers who want to give glass work a try. We can also accommodate teams, families, date nights, celebrations, wedding / unity pieces, and some other special projects with our format.

- invite who you want
- schedule a time slot convenient for you
- focus on building skill or special projects (e.g. we get many requests to do seasonal favorites like hearts, pumpkins, or ornament lessons)

Our shop can accommodate both small and large groups.
Prices are based on number if participants:
1-2 students $375
3-4 students $450
5-6 students $750
7-8 students $900
9+ $25 per student beyond 8 students

A typical first lesson orients students to the hot shop including safety and basic equipment. The first exercise is learning how to gather molten glass from the furnace and begin using hand tools. We then walk students through a series of exercises to set them up for success from one activity to another, starting with a “snowman,” followed by a paperweight with added color, an ornament, and usually by the end students are attempting a cylinder “cup” form.

Our shop runs in 9am-1pm, 1:30-5:30pm, and 6-10pm time slots.

Come back the following Saturday during our open hours to pick up your creations (we’ll have completed any cold working needed for you)!

When you reach out to schedule please let us know what day of the week and time slot you prefer to expedite the scheduling process. To schedule email us at info@firehouseglass.com or use our Contact form.

Please be patient with a response back as scheduling lessons requires coordinating multiple schedules. We typically schedule Saturdays a couple of weeks out and typically require a weeks notice on other scheduling.

Torch / Lamp Working Lessons are $150 for a 2 hour lesson for 1 ($180 for 2 students). All materials included.
Our Warm Shop features a sizable area to work smaller scale with glass on the torch.

A typical first lesson will walk students through using the torch safely and will focus either on small pendants / marbles using hard glass, or bead making using soft glass. Please let us know what you’d like to learn when you reach out to schedule.
